Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
Terms of Service for Onika Effective Date: 5/19/20 1. Acceptance of Terms By using Onika (hereinafter referred to as "the Bot"), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with these terms, you may not use the Bot. 2. Description of Service The Bot is a Discord bot designed to provide an array of moderation and other tools, such as music playback, to users of Discord servers where it is invited. The Bot is accessible via text commands, slash commands, and interaction buttons in supported servers. 3. Eligibility You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required by Discord's Terms of Service) to use the Bot. By using the Bot, you confirm that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms. 4. User Responsibilities You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the Bot complies with all applicable laws, including but not limited to the Discord Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. You may not use the Bot for unlawful purposes, including but not limited to harassment, hate speech, or unauthorized data collection. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Discord account and any permissions you grant to the Bot. 5. Data Collection and Usage The Bot may collect limited user data as outlined in our [Privacy Policy] below. This may include: Usernames, user IDs, and message content for the purpose of responding to commands. Server IDs, channel IDs, and role information for moderation and administrative functions. In the case of using LLM (Large Language Model) functionality, user messages may be sent to third-party AI providers (like OpenAI) to generate responses. The Bot does not store user messages or sensitive personal data beyond the duration of the command processing unless explicitly stated (e.g., reminders). 6. Bot Permissions and Functionality The Bot must be invited to a server with the necessary permissions for its features to function properly. The Bot will request permissions including [list required permissions, e.g., Send Messages, Manage Messages, Kick Members, Use Voice Channel]. Server administrators are responsible for managing the Bot's permissions within their servers. 7. Prohibited Uses You agree not to: Use the Bot in a manner that violates Discord’s Terms of Service. Attempt to exploit, harm, or interfere with the Bot or its code. Use the Bot for unauthorized data scraping, data mining, or spamming. 8. Changes to the Terms These Terms of Service may be updated from time to time. You will be notified of any significant changes via the bot's support server or announcement channel. Continued use of the Bot after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. 9. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability The Bot is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. The developer is not liable for any damages arising from the use of the Bot, including but not limited to data loss, server issues, or user misconduct. The developer reserves the right to suspend or terminate access to the Bot at any time without prior notice for violations of these Terms. 10. Privacy Policy for Onika Effective Date: 5/19/2025 1. Introduction This Privacy Policy describes how Onika (hereinafter referred to as "the Bot") collects, uses, and protects user information. 2. Data Collection The Bot may collect the following types of data: User Information: Discord usernames, user IDs, server IDs, channel IDs, and roles for the purpose of responding to commands and performing moderation actions. Message Content: Messages and interactions sent to the Bot may be processed in real-time to respond to commands. Message content is not stored permanently, except for temporary logs in memory for command processing. Audio Data: If using voice functionality (e.g., music playback), the Bot may access voice channel information but does not record or save audio. 3. Data Usage The data collected is used for the following purposes: To respond to user commands and provide the Bot’s functionality. To maintain moderation and administrative features (e.g., kick, ban, mute). To process user inputs for LLM responses (if integrated), which may involve sending the message content to a third-party API (e.g., OpenAI for LLM responses). 4. Data Sharing The Bot does not share your data with third parties except in the following circumstances: When using third-party APIs (e.g., LLMs), user input is temporarily sent to those providers for processing. If required by law or to comply with legal processes. To prevent abuse or misuse of the Bot (e.g., detecting and responding to spam). 5. Data Storage The Bot does not store any personal data permanently on its servers. Any data temporarily collected (e.g., for processing commands) is held in memory and cleared when no longer needed. If using reminders or persistent data storage, this will be explicitly stated and limited to the specified function. 6. User Rights Users can request the removal of their data (such as reminders) by contacting the developer. Users may revoke the Bot’s permissions or remove it from their server at any time. 7. Security The Bot uses reasonable security measures to protect data in transit. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and the developer cannot guarantee absolute security. 8.
